As part of the first edition of the International Festival of the Cascades (FESTICAS), the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism, Pingdwendé Gilbert OUEDRAOGO, carried out a series of visits to tourist sites in the Cascades region on Friday, April 11, 2025. This visit, which brought together a large number of young people, students, and pupils, was intended to shed light on the region’s tourism potential.
The tour began with a visit to the Sindou Peaks, known for their spectacular rock formations. It continued to the Douna Caves, Lake Tengrela, the Fabédougou Domes, and finally the Kafuguela Waterfalls. At each site, tourist guides shared the history and specific features of these locations, allowing visitors to deepen their knowledge of the national heritage.
According to Minister Pingdwendé Gilbert OUEDRAOGO, the aim of the visit was to showcase the cultural and tourism diversity of Burkina Faso. He encouraged Burkinabè from both urban and rural areas to explore the wonders of their country. “We have exceptional wealth,” the minister stated.
The participation of nearly a hundred young people in this tour reflects the commitment of the youth to rediscovering and promoting national heritage. The minister expressed his satisfaction with the enthusiasm shown, affirming that peace and stability have returned to most regions of Burkina Faso, allowing tourist sites to come back to life and guides to resume their activities.
