Morocco ranks among the top destinations to visit in 2024, according to American television network CNN in its “Travel” section.

The major media outlet recommends that tourists explore other parts of the Kingdom, such as Tetouan and Meknes, “less frequented but undoubtedly just as alluring” as the popular cities of Marrakech, Rabat, and Fez.

“A long-time favorite of travelers thanks to its diverse landscape and spectacular architecture, Morocco has bounced back with determination after a devastating earthquake last September,” writes CNN, which based its selection of destinations on criteria such as ease of travel, respect for ecotourism, and the discovery of off-the-beaten-path locations.

Under the title “Where to Go in 2024: The Best Places to Visit,” the American network highlights that while visitors tend to “converge on popular cities like Marrakech, Rabat, and Fez, the country certainly does not lack less frequented, but undoubtedly equally alluring places.”

Among the recommended spots are the cities of Tetouan and Meknes, which are among the nine sites in the country listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the same source further indicates in the section dedicated to Morocco and illustrated with a photo of the medina of the White Dove.

For CNN, Morocco is a “world leader” in sustainable tourism, thanks to several initiatives aimed at boosting renewable energy production. The country is also home to a number of important eco-hotels.

Globally, the American media notes the upsurge in tourism activity with a jump of around 90% compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2023, which has led to a surge in traffic to the most popular destinations.
